Visvim Spring/Summer 2009 Collection

Season in and season out Visvim continue to impress and evolve in unexpected directions. From what we have already seen this season there has been a refreshing amount of great product and this release does not disappoint. Featuring some great shirting along with more high water chinos, the most interesting pieces are the blazer which takes on board a vert preppy inspired feel and the bandana which is part of Hiroki Nakamura’s daily wardrobe.

J. Dilla x Obey “A Personal Appreciation” Print

We here at Ryatt whole-heartedly endorse almost anything obey, so when we heard that the legendary J. Dilla would be immortalized in a Shepard Fairy print, we knew we had to spread the word. For those of you that dont know, in a battle with lupus which ultimately took his life, music producer J. Dilla touched the hearts of many through his powerful legacy. For J. Dilla’s mother “Ma Dukes” Yancey who was a tireless helper through Dilla’s battle with the disease, she is also is affected by the same disease that took her soon prematurely. Her condition has recently become more severe as friends jump on-board to help her out. Previous fund raising efforts were seen through a shirt via Stones Throw and artist Parra. Shepard Fairey alongside Brian Cross (B+) has also joined the cause with a special print of J. Dilla based on a 2003 photograph. In a run of 400, the prints will release on February 20th at a retail price of $55 USD (18 in x 24 in). For info on Brian Cross’ own experiences with Dilla, check ObeyGiant.com.

To Tami

TAMI IGE

Happy Valentines day <3

So yeah it's valentines day...and for those that don't know, this is Matt speaking. Anyway, I'd like to dedicate this post to a one, Miss Tami Ige. Why? Well because Tami is one of the most cutest awesomest females ever. Like ever ever. She makes your female look like crap...unless your female is your mom/wife...then mad respect, but seriously, Tami is fantastic. She is so awesome that I went to the applestore in Pasadena...embarrassed myself and then made this post. From the moment I met her till to this very moment in time she's always had a place in my heart. Never told anyone because...like she's different that way. She always made me smile, I'm always thinking about her and like, she leaves me flabbergasted everytime we talk. You know with the butterflies and the goosebumps and always wanting to be around her and such and such. It feels like everything before her was wasted time. But I digress. Really though, Tami is the epitome of everything that is wonderful in the world. She's smart, cute, funny, awesome, pretty, intelligent, witty, awesome, caring, talented, and like a whole mess of other things. And did I mention awesome?! I think I made up a word to describe Tammany Hall (one of many nicknames I have for her), I do believe it was Tamtastic...yep thats her, Tami is tamtastic. So I'd like to say thank you to you Tami...I hope this brought a smile to your face. Thanks for being my valentine and thanks for being so wonderful to me.

Forever yours,
Matthew DeQuina Calimbas
(the "att" part in Ryatt)

Artist Watch: Shad aka Shadrach Kabango

Shad has emerged as one of Canada’s most gifted young hip-hop artists and, with his new album The Old Prince, he’s made a fresh, ingenious record. Based out of London, Ontario but currently pursuing graduate studies in Vancouver, Shad turned heads at a 2004 radio competition, winning $17,500 towards his 2005 debut, When This is Over. The independently released record showcased a budding talent with a warm flow who alternated between endearingly silly and conscious rhymes. Brandishing an acoustic guitar with a DJ and a live band, there’s something automatically unique about the old-school flavour Shad brings to contemporary hip-hop and he’s made an astonishing artistic leap with The Old Prince.
